🍂 Wrapping Up September: Wins, Lessons & What’s Next
As September winds down, we know many families are feeling a mix of emotions—relief, exhaustion, pride, and maybe even a little frustration. The start of the school year is full of big transitions, and every small step forward counts.
At EmpowerED Advocates, we’ve spent the month walking alongside families just like yours—reviewing IEPs, supporting evaluations, and celebrating every “win,” big or small. Here's what we’ve learned (and what we recommend as we head into October).

🎉 September Wins We’re Celebrating
- Parents gained confidence asking the right questions in IEP meetings
- Several students received updated evaluations to reflect current needs
- Families advocated for and secured needed accommodations
- Progress monitoring plans were added to multiple IEPs
- New tutoring sessions launched to boost literacy and math skills
👏🏽 Every win is a step toward equity.
🧠 What to Reflect On
As you look back on this month:
- Did your child’s school implement all agreed services?
- Are you receiving communication about how your child is doing?
- Do you feel confident that the plan in place is working?
If the answer to any of these is “not yet,” now is the time to reach out.
📌 Parent Action Items for Early October
